Slice 3 onions into thin slices. Melt butter in a pan, on high heat – and add the onion strips, salt and brown sugar and mix well. Continue to cook while constantly stirring on low heat for another 40 minutes. Add 3 spoonful red wine to obtain a deep amber shade, and full caramelization of the onion. cool slightly.

Cut 2 Rustic baguettes into 20 slices, about 1/2 inch thick. Arrange slices on cookie sheet. Spray each slice with cooking spray until lightly coated. bake 8 to 10 minutes longer or until lightly toasted.

Serving: Place 1 spoonful caramelized onions on each toasted bread slice; top with 1 rounded teaspoon cream cheese. Sprinkle with herbs.
